Sun Lakes
 Sun Lakes enjoys a very active social community, made possible by the great clubhouses and dining facilities. Organized clubs get together to participate in their favorite hobby, interest or sport; some of the more popular activities are golf, dancing and music. There are men’s, women’s and couple’s golf associations, as well as groups involved in yoga, kick-boxing and racquetball, among others.
Outside of Sun Lakes, the Phoenix metro of Arizona offers several outdoor sites that provide many activities for hikers, swimmers and explorers. The Tonto National Forest, located north of Phoenix, draws in over 5.5 million visitors every year to explore almost three million acres of undeveloped land. The elevation of the forest varies from 1,300 feet to 8,000 feet, meaning the temperature and the landscape throughout the park are equally diverse. Rivers and streams, forested hillsides and open deserts can all be found here. With many campsites, picnic facilities, boat launches and trails, the Tonto forest is a great destination for the weekend outdoorsman. For a less rugged form of entertainment, Sun Lakes residents always have the option of nearby Phoenix. As one of the country’s largest cities, Phoenix is home to several professional sports teams, established museums and major performing arts venues. As a popular vacation destination, Phoenix also offers fine dining, high-end shopping and an active nightlife. |
